Biography

Elena Mogilevski studied piano at the Ukrainian State Conservatorium and graduated with first class honours. She studied at the Moscow University of the Arts, where she completed her master's degree.

Elena Mogilevski has been a senior lecturer and active performer of chamber music based at the Ukrainian State Conservatorium and later at St. Petersburg State Conservatorium. She has played with renowned artists such as Grygory Zhislin, Sergey Calinin and her husband, Mark Mogilevski.

Elena and Mark Mogilevski have worked together as a duo since 1972 and have won the Ukrainian Chamber Music Competition. Having chosen chamber music as her field of specialisation, Elena Mogilevski has played in recitals in Kharkov, Kiev, Riga, Moscow, St. Petersburg and in other major cities of the former Soviet Union. At the same time, she has performed with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra in St. Petersburg and in various cities in Germany. She has performed chamber music concerts in Porto and Lisbon in Portugal, in Paris and several other cities in France, as well as in Australia. She has also worked as a lecturer at the Academy of Music in Portugal and taught piano at the Montpellier Regional Conservatorium in France.

Currently, she is an official accompanist with the Victorian College of the Arts School of Music and with the Faculty of Music, Melbourne University and a sessional lecturer of chamber music in the Victorian College of the Arts. Elena regularly performed at the Melbourne Festival (1997-1999), ABC Classic FM “Sunday Live” series (1997-2001), Monash University chamber music concert series (1995-2001), and participated in recitals in Melbourne, Sidney and Adelaide, in major venues such as the Australian Club, the University house, Iwaki Auditorium and Elder Conservatorium.
